Seminar on Cyber Awareness

As the devastating matter of cyber crimes are on the rise and public safety is being threatened, it was high time to aware people on a general level. On this ground, IEEE IUB Student Branch Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group and Department of EEE, IUB arranged a Seminar on Cyber Awareness on 19th July, 2018 in its Bashundhara permanent Campus. The seminar was a full-house having expert speakers from various fields. Mr. Tanvir Hassan Zoha - Leading Cyber Security Expert, Mr. Shahadat Hossain Rasel, ASP of National Central Bureau, INTERPOL, Dhaka, Bangladesh Police, Dr. M. Ameer Ali, Professor and Chairman, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Bangladesh University of Business and Technology as well as consultant of Cyber Policing (GoB project for training Bangladesh Police on cyber crime) were among the distinguished speakers and guests. Barrister Siam Ahmed (also a leading actor of Bangladesh film industry) was also present at the seminar as a special guest. The speakers shared their practical experience, knowledge and vital information with the audience which awakened and inspired them to actually give extra attention and priority towards their actions on the web especially about social media and to prevent victimization. The crowd was cheerful upon hearing the amusing but informative speech from Mr. Siam. The seminar was adorned with Prof. Mohammed Anwer- Dean, School of Engineering and Computer Science, IUB and other respected faculty members from other departments. The vote of thanks was delivered and IEEE IUB WIE Affinity Group executive committee was acknowledged by the audience through Ms. Navila Rahman, Lecturer, Dept of EEE and advisor of IEEE IUB SB WIE Affinity Group.
