Closing and prize giving ceremony of international rating chess tournament

Closing and the prize giving ceremony of ‘International Rating Chess Tournament 2018’ was held at IUB on July 22, 2018 at its own campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka. Khandker Md. Iftekhar Haider, Treasurer, IUB was the chief guest at the ceremony. A 4-day long event from July 19-22 had been organized as part of celebrating IUB’s 25th anniversary. More than 50 international rated and almost same number of non-rated chess players from different institutes and chess federation participated in the tournament.
12 participants including two students from IUB received prizes while taka 1,00, 000 (One lakh) was handed over among all these winners. Khandker Md. Iftekhar Haider handed the prize money. Fide Master Md. Abdul Malek, member of Bangladesh Chess Federation representing Titash Club become first while Md. Abjid Rahman of Janata Bank and Ikramul Haque Siam of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, (ULAB) secured the second & third positions respectively.
Md. Haroon-or-Rashid, Administrative and Rating Officer of Bangladesh Chess Federation, remained present in the program as the Chief Arbitrator of the tournament.
Participants, members of the faculty and management of IUB and students attended the ceremony. Mutual Trust Bank Limited was the sponsor of the competition.
