IUB organizes International Rating Chess Tournament

As part of celebrating Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB)’s 25th anniversary, the university organized a 4-day International Rating Chess Tournament to be held from July 19-22, 2018 at IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka. More than 50 international rated and almost same number of non-rated chess players from different institutes and chess federation are participating in this tournament.
The event started with an opening remarks delivered by the first south asian international grandmaster Niaz Murshed. He explained the objectives and future plans of this tournament.
Professor M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB formally inaugurated the competition as chief guest and urged all students to be involved with extracurricular activities more and more to flourish their talent and become quality human beings.
Participants, members of the faculty and management of IUB and full-house students attended the inaugural ceremony of the tournament. Mutual Trust Bank Limited has been the sponsor of the competition.
