SESM Seminar on “Environmental Research in a Developing Country”
School of Environmental Science and Management (SESM) of Independent university, Bangladesh (IUB), organized a Seminar titled “Organometallic and Environmental Research in a Developing Country: Role of Wazed Miah Science Research Center (WMSRC)” on July 15, 2018 at its own campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka. Professor Shariff Enamul Kabir, former Vice Chancellor, Jahangirnagar University and former Member of the Public Service Commission (PSC) was the Keynote Speaker.
The program started with a short introduction of the speakers given by Dr. Md. Abdul Khaleque, Dean, SESM. Professor M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of IUB was the chair of the Seminar and enlightened the audience through his valuable speech.
During his presentation, Professor Kabir described the scopes and prospects of environmental studies in Bangladesh and abroad. He highlighted the facilities and instruments of the Wazed Miah Science Research Center (WMSRC) which was established through his enormous efforts at Jahangirnagar University. Professor Kabir assured IUB that in future a wonderful and efficient collaboration is ought to be established between IUB and WMSRC.
Following the presentation, the floor was open for a question-answer session where the students participated enthusiastically. The Seminar ended with a vote of thanks given by Dr. Md Hafizur Rahman, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Science, IUB. Members of the faculty and management and a large number of students attended the Seminar.
