IUB Model UN 2018 Conference held

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) Model United Nations (MUN) 2018 inaugural Conference (intra-edition) was held from March 23-24, 2018 at IUB campus in Bashundhara R/A, Dhaka. The Conference was organized by the MUN Forum of IUB and strategically supported by the House of Youth Dialogue (HYD), a youth organization with the vision to promote youth engagement across the globe. The two-day event was implemented as an initiative to solidify IUB’s presence in the MUN community and to pave a strong platform for the new and emerging youth to strengthen their diplomatic and negotiation skills and maximize opportunities for realizing their latent potential.
Prof. M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB was the Chief Guest in the opening ceremony of the Conference. Faculty Advisor of MUNFIUB, Dr. Mustafa Habib Chowdhury, the Secretary General of IUB MUN 2018 (intra) Ms. Rayeedah Islam, the Chief Executive Officer of HYD Mr. Zunayeed N. Alam, and the Special Guest Mr. Mozammel Haque, Policy Co-ordinator and Specialist, Democratic Governance Portfolio, UNDP also attended the session.
In the closing ceremony on March 24, 2018, the Special Guest was Mr. Riyajul Karim, Founder of Jahangirnagar University Model United Nations Association (JUMUNA), Founder and President of Education Parliament, Bangladesh, and Ambassador of World Literacy Foundation, Education Expert, UNESCO. Faculty Advisor of MUNFIUB, Dr. Mustafa Habib Chowdhury, the Secretary General of IUB MUN 2018 (intra) Ms. Rayeedah Islam, and the Chief Operating Officer of HYD Mr. Hamim Islam were also present. EEE Department of IUB had the distinction of winning the Best Delegation Award by virtue of obtaining highest number of individual awards seized by individual delegates.
