The School of Public Health of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organized a Seminar on the "Use of mobile applications in rapid assessment of difficult to access areas in conflict-experience from Mosul crisis in Iraq 2017- lessons learnt and way forward" on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka. Dr. SM Moazzem Hossain, Chief of Health and Nutrition, UNICEF Iraq was the Keynote Speaker of the Seminar.
The program started with a brief introduction of the Keynote Speaker given by Prof. M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB. Mr. Rashed Chowdhury, former Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB, delivered the concluding remarks.
In his presentation Dr. Moazzem discussed on the applications of mobile tools in rapid assessment in conflict disaster. He also shared his experiences in working during disastrous situations in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Syria. Dr. Hossain explained the entire methodology of collecting, storing and sharing data by using mobile applications and also demonstrated as to how effectively that can be assessed & used for critical health services and to ensure the sustainability of programs.
Following the presentation, the floor was open for a question-answer session where both students and faculties participated enthusiastically. Trustees, Deans and Heads of different Schools and Departments, senior members of the faculty and administration and a large number of students attended the Seminar.
