SESM students' fieldtrip to Khagrachori

The Department of Environmental Science under the School of Environmental Science and Management (SESM) at IUB went for 2 days’ fieldtrip to Khagrachori from March 15-16 March, 2018. Good number of students, along with faculty members, took part in this fieldtrip while the entire team was led by Dr. K. Ayaz Rabbani, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Science. Md Ekhtekharul Islam, Senior Lecturer, Saquib Ahmed Khan, Lecturer and Ms. Tahmina Sultana, Lecturer were also the part of the team.
The main objective of this fieldtrip was to enhance the knowledge of the students on biodiversity and different natural sites and to explore potential threats to natural tourism sites in Bangladesh arising from unsound practices. Students spent the first day to witness and learn from Sajek and Konglak Pahar. They realized the fact that pollution induced by unsustainable tourism practices in Sajek, along with other places, may transform the functional forest ecosystem and thereby change the regional climate.
