To celebrate its 25 anniversary, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) in association with Shadhona, a center for the advancement of South Asian culture hosted a 2-day festival of splendid Bharathanatyam, the supreme Indian classical dance guided by Bharathanatyam prodigy Kirti Ramgopal on March 2 & 3, 2018 at IUB auditorium in Bashundhara, Dhaka. Entitled as Rongoprobesh 2018, there was a solo performance by Arthy Ahmed on Friday, March 2, 2018 and a South Indian music concert, Carnatic Kacheri, performed by Kolpotoru Ensemble, on Saturday, March 3, 2018. On both days, Kirti Ramgopal was accompanied by distinguished musicians came from Bangalore, India.
Arthy Ahmed on 2nd March and a group of young dancers of Kolpotoru on 3rd March mesmerized the audience through their splendid performances. The show was broadcasted LIVE on Nagorik TV.
Bharathanatyam evenings at IUB were enjoyed by many revered audiences that include H. E. Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, Mr. Rashed Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB; respected Trustees of IUB; Prof. M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB, Ms. Lubna Marium, President, Shadhona; Deans and senior members of the faculty and management of IUB, eminent cultural personalities, dignitaries and a large number of IUB students.
