Prof. Raju discusses an integral part of Bangladeshi cinema

Prof. Zakir Hossain Raju, Head, Department of Media and Communication, IUB was invited by ATN News, one of the leading national electronic media of the country to take part in a discussion session on “Politics in Cinema”. The program was aired through the channel’s “News Hour Extra” segment February 10, 2018. Bangladesh’s prominent filmmaker, Kazi Hayat and popular actor, Ilias Kanchan were two other discussants of the program.
The discussions essentially took place on the hurdles that the filmmakers experience while integrating politics in Bangladeshi movies. Various challenges and sensor board issues were also accentuated. Nevertheless, politics is very much an integral part of people’s lives and it cannot be alienated from their beliefs; both are supplementary & complementary – Dr. Raju opined.
